Upgrading to Ubuntu 11.04 Natty

If I upgrade from Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04 will any and or all of my preferences/programs have to be re-configured/re-installed or will it just upgrade and leave everything how it is??

hmmm ... going on past experiences the answer is generally yes to both

I would add though, that Natty has switched the desktop to Unity and I am not sure if that will override your current one and keep
what it can or straight out blat your old one.

I would probably suggest hitting the forums on Ubuntu ... guaranteed someone has already tried
