Upgrading to KDE 3.4
HI, i've read the good feedback on KDE 3.4 and wanna take the plunge. I've already read the descriptions on how to install the new version which seems to be do
get hold of all the rpm's .... put them in a directory...... type urpmi.addmedia kde <directory of folder> to add it to the urpmi list type urpmi --media kde and it should either give you dependancy errors or install fully (all this in KDE environment without init 3) alas, nothing happens when i type any of the commands. I've done it both in root and my account. i'm sure i'm missing the obvious but i'm a newbie, and dont know what is going on, if someone could help (and explain what each step of their solutions does as i wanna learn) i'd be much obliged..... Thanks |

I have tried to add the downloaded folder via RPMdrake as described in http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=269898
but i get a warning message sayin "copying failed, unable to build synthesis file for medium "local" , your hdlist file maybe corrupted..... I've looked on the forum regarding this and came up with a suggestion to copy a cz file over to my folder and update that way. However, it doesnt work if you add new rpms to the folder...... does anyone know how i can resolve this issue.....? |
Wait until 2006 is released beta sucked it upgraded my system but was more work setting it up then it was worth. I ended up going back to 2005.I would just recommend you wait till September when the final version is released.

k, cool, i shall wait, but i'd still be interested in finding out why my comp's not working for future reference.
Sorry for being a bother.... |
