upgrading openSUSE on partitioned HD

I consider myself a noob because I keep leaving and coming back to Linux. I'm interested in website development and want to practice with Linux. I currently have openSUSE 10 on partitions of both my laptop and desktop. The desktop has Windows XP on a partition and the laptop has Windows 2000 on a partition. I want to upgrade openSUSE 10.2 to the current distro (11.2). I've downloaded and burned the ISO to a DVD disk. When I reboot with my desktop, I get a list of things to boot into - "Windows XP" and "openSUSE 11.2", but I cannot move the selection to openSUSE. The problem I have with my laptop is that it only has a CD burner - not a DVD - a whole nuther issue there. I would really just like to upgrade one of these openSUSE OSes. Hope it's not too complicated. Can you give me some ideas?

upgrade suze

Have you tried 'zypper'? To be run on the command line, unsurprisingly. Run something like 'zypper update' {enter} 'zypper upgade' {enter}. I know this sounds like ubuntu/debian but zypper is fairly forgiving.

Fred.
