Upgrading KDE 3.1 to KDE 3.3
Can't some on point in the right direction. I am running Redhat 9 with
KDE 3.1-13 Redhat. I have KDE 3.3 on a cd and want to upgrade,. I am looking for a websitr that can walk me through it. Thanks for the help. |
These instruction are for a web install, but I think order is the
most important thing... # rpm -Uvh qt-*.rpm --force --nodeps # rpm -Uvh arts-*.rpm --force --nodeps # rpm -Uvh quanta-*.rpm --force --nodeps # rpm -Uvh kde-*.rpm --force --nodeps Should do it! |
Thanks for the help, I will give it a try.

This is the message:
Thanks for your last post about upgrading to kde 3.3, I unpacked the rpms and it seemed to work, but when I restarted my machine, It won't run kde just gives me a prompt. Thanks for you help -------- If you want Xwindows to start automatically you have to set the /etc/inittab to 5. The other option is to type startx at the prompt each time you reboot. -- alar |
if you get to a prompt, you either arrive at a prompt that you actually have to log into as root or user? or you're already in, but to command line input (which is where you want to be?) then try startx (if it tells you "command not found" as user, log in as root and try again)
