Upgrading from RH7,0 to RH7,1
 

My system is in daul boot, i would like to know if there is any risk in upgrading my RH7,0.
For the upgrade proc, is there any place to get the info?

I can't see that there should be any problem.
I have made several upgrades with red hat on one of my machines and have never had any problem.
My computer are also dual booting.
When you start the installation you get a question if you would like to install or upgrade.
As long as you remember to make that boot disk later when the installation program wants you to then you can fix the dual boot in case it would make problems.

I was actually very impressed by the upgrade option in Red Hat. I have always avoided an upgrade in favor of a reinstallation. Experience with M$ :mad:

Well, so far it's not working...
It tells me that i don't have any linux partition. But in my first installation i put linux on hd2, is it possible that it doesn't work this waywith the upgrade? i would doute it, what am i doing wrong?

What steps are you taking and what possible errors are you getting?

You should only have to boot from the RH cd or from a installation boot disk, made from the cd.

I select : install or upgrade in graph mode
then i select english
pick the default keyboard and mouse
i clic for the system installer
i select upgrade
then i have the message:
'you don't have any linux partitions
you can't upgrade this system'

How are you dual booting. Are you using boot magic, Lilo, or something else to boot? You might have the wrong partition active. Make sure that the linux partition is active.

I am using LILO, 1st partition as w98 and W2Kserver on it, it uses my first disk.
2nd and third are linux on the second disk native and swap

Well, i couldn't find out why but it was not seeing my linux partition so i had to reinstalled RH to get the 7.1.
While installing i find out that the linux native didn't have the '/' mnt point, it is strage because i am sure that i put it on when i installed RH7.0 and the dual booting was working fine.

I also wonder if my disk position as somthing to do with the fact that it didn't see my linux native and swap. the way the system is install, i have my first disk w98/m2k than the second disk is my burner third disk is my linux fourth is a cdrom.

The fact that you had to specify your / is because you did a reinstall.
When you do the installation program has no idea of where you whant your root system.
When you specify where to put your / then you actually don't anything to the disk but tell installation how to configure LILO and /etc/fstab among other files.
