Upgrading From Mandrake 9.2 to 10 Questions
Hey All,
I'm planning on upgrading from Mandrake 9.2 to Mandrake 10 community this afternoon, but I need to know a few things before I go ahead with it: A) Will all my programs that I have installed (either via source or RPMs) and their configurations be lost? Will I have to do something to get all my programs back once I upgrade? B) Will all my files be erased when I upgrade, even if I choose not to change the partition tables? C) Will all my configuration be lost? By this I mean email, web, firewall, servers, desktop look, files on the desktop, bookmarks from galeon, gaim accounts and coversations, program configurations, etc.. D) Will I be able to, if i hate Mandrake 10, downgrade to 9.2? And will doing this cause any of the stuff mentioned above to be lost or changed? Thanks! P.S.> I get a bunch of status errors for my main hard drive when I boot up, is this going to keep me from upgrading to 10? How can I fix this, as it has happened to another hard drive I had and after about 2 weeks of doing this the hard drive died. |
If you choose the "upgrade" option in the 10.0 install, nothing should be lost. even so, backup stuff with the DrakBackup thing. I dont think you can downgrade.
I have no idea about the hard drive although it shouldn't affect the install. |
