Hi,

the (IMHO) best way to do this would be to upgrade (or replace) your operating system with one that provides a newer firefox version. What operating system are you running on your aspire one?

Cheers,

Evo2.

You need to go to the Mozilla Firefox download site and look at the System Requirements page for the version you want to use.
I got one machine that is stuck at Firefox 2.0.0.3 (this one) because it is Win98, and none of the newer versions have support for Win98.

Some Firefox 4 have a problem with blinking GIFs that was really annoying (cairo lib on Linux). I have upgraded my Linux all the way to Firefox 10, which is a bit larger but does not appear much different than 4.

Hmmm, the useragent is 'Fedora' and the last version to have firefox 2.X AFAIK was fedora 8.

If its Fedora 8, it really should be updated to a newer version. Fedora 8 has been end of life, out of support for years now.

acer aspire one came with Linpus Lite, which was based on Fedora 8.

You would be much better off trying to install a newer distro. At his point not only does it not have any security support but as you found out , trying to install newer apps is practically impossible.
