upgrade to the new version 10.04.1
 

I use the ubuntu 9.10 karmic edition, and every time i use the update manager, i am prompted for the upgrade to the newer version of the ubuntu i.e 10.04.1,

is it advisable to do so ?

does grub change its contents after such upgrade ?

and what difference will it make to my present system?

The not LTS version of UBUNTU has a lifespan 18 months.
So you have still a few months to go before end of live .
How good is you're internet connection and how fast ?
If you have a good and fast internet connection you can upgrade 10.4 if you wish
UBUNTU 10.4 use standard GRUB 2 ,
But if you only upgrade it might not change it from grub 1 to GRUB 2
If you are happy with you're present system wait until the end of live 9,10 before upgrading

upgrading is adivsable on system that is requred to have latest features.

If you aren't afraid of formating and setting up OS again, do the upgrade. 99% of your settings stay the same, so with bit of luck you get automaticaly upgraded OS.
