Upgrade from RHEL 5.3 to RHEL 6.2 or higher version

Hi,

I have a server running in RHEL 5.3 (Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.3 (Tikanga))

I need to upgrade it to RHEL 6.2 or higher...

Kindly advise me the steps to be done...

Regards,
Jibu

You'll need to backup all personal data and cfgs & do a fresh install; Latest is v6.4 .
You cannot (should not) do an in-place upgrade across major versions with RHEL; they specifically do not support it
Quote:
. More generally, Red Hat does not support in-place upgrades between any major versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. (A major version is denoted by a whole number version change.

Exactly, but you might as well go with 6.4 or you'll still need to update afterwards.
