Updating or editing grub loader

I have a PC that I had dual booting with Windows 2000 server and Red Hat 9. I added a controller card and now the Red Hat stops in mid boot. The 2000 installation still boots correctly. In the instructions for the driver installation for the controller card I needed to flash the BIOS. I did that successfully. I next need to edit/update the grub loader the instructions say to use /etc/grub.conf. How do I do this? The controller card is a Highpoint Rocket 100. Thanks for any help

type

vi /etc/grub.conf

in a command prompt.

this will open the vi editor and the grub.conf file.

if you dont know how to use vi try

gedit /etc/grub.conf

or

kedit /etc/grub.conf
