Updating KDE 3.2 (Suse 9.0)
 

I have downloaded the 3.2 KDE program into the /tmp directory. Now I want to update everything. I tried using the install with YAST, but get dependency errors. Is there a particular order I have to do them in? or is there a way to update the KDE base and all the default applications via command line?

I did a search, but don't see any that pertain to Suse 9.0. I see ones for Mandrake and other distros, but not the one I am new to using, and trying to get a handle on. I have tried, if you bothered reading my post, but need more guidance, hopefully without your synical comments.

Did you download the source, or the suse 9 rpms?

I upgraded through the rpms on suse 9.0. I went into init 3, went into the directory with all the rpms, had to do a --force --nodeps on kdebase (unfortuately), and then get rid of conflicts with open office and k3b, but everything else installed after that.

running fedora core 1, is it possible to download the new kde 3.2, switch to gnome, update kde, then switch back to kde? i normally use kde, and fc1 makes it simple to choose what x to use right at the boot screen

Thanks for the reply. I wanted to just get the RPMS to save on space. I go to the download directory where all the files are. It gives the option to install with Yast, which works until it gets dependency errors.

Could you explain in futher detail how to force the update via the command line?
