updating

If I install Mandrake 8.1 to try, (on second harddrive) and I like it and want to go further, is 'updating' later to a newer version possible, without problems?
Thanks in advance.

why dont u install the new mandrake instead (mandrake 10) ?

as the gap between 8.1 and 10 is great

O'Senior -- Welcome to LQ!

As heema suggested, it probably would be a lot easier to just install the current version of a distro rather than to install the old one and then try to upgrade it. In other words, "Installing New" is half the work of "Install Old - Upgrade to New"

Many of the most popular distros are available for free download at LinuxISO Good luck with the project. -- J.W.

The Mandr.8.1 CDRom came with a magazine a while ago. Now I want to try it. Tight budget prevents me from spending on unknown items. I take your advise and look at the site. Thanks for the replies. I'll be back.
