hello,
I was updating my laptop asus in the ubuntu 12.04 update menu.
The was menu saying I should update to the new HWE.
I clicked the update.
It loaded automatically a new kernel 3.13.0.
By starting the notebook again, a first menu appear: "the system is running in low-graphics mode" "your screen, graphic cards, and input devices settings could not be detected correctly. You will need to configure these yourself". "Ok button".
By clicking "return" (=activating ok), I come to a second menu
"what would you like to do?"
- run in low graphics mode for just one session
- reconfigure graphics
- troubleshoot the error
- exit to console login
(cancel and ok button at the bottom)
no taste works in order to change the lines in the second menu. Just power off.
By clicking esc in the first menu, I come to a prompt.
Startx dont work.
So, what should I do in order to make my system running again?
how to start the configuration from the prompt?
Any help is very welcome. This is my wife notebook.. so hopefully I find a solution the next hours.. else..
Edit1: with "startx" an error appear "FATAL: Module fglrx_updates not found"
.. "Fatal server error: no screens found".

X is starting again.. but feeling is a bit slow (not all commands above were without errors).. I will see if something has to be added or improved. It seems the screen is much better.
Edit3: the fglrx module cannot be loaded. See logfile in the time 19.615s. It seems not to disturb too much.
Any recommendation what to do is welcome.
