update query

Im a newbie who has so far has installed Mandrake 10.1 (I now dual boot with XP) with mixed sucess.

Presently I am unable to connect to the internet as there are no Sagem fast 800 e3 modem drivers privided on the CDs. I see from from the following

http://www.linuxcompatible.org/story37324.html

that fixes for ldetect-lst include:
- do not wrongly detect some sound cards
- disambiguate media devices (eg: TV cards vs SAT cards)
- add a few PCMCIA, SATA and centrino entries
- add a few missing description
- add Sagem Fast 800 E3

So how do I get hold of the applicable package to install? Hunted around but couldnt find anything to download. Any pointers appreciated :-)

This is an update for drakextools. If you re-read the post that you linked to, you'll notice that it suggests using MandrakUpdate or urpmi to perform the update automatically.

Ah but I am unable to use the update mechanism as I cannot access the internet via linux...

My isp has provided the sage modem that is referenced in the update and I would like to see if this 'update' solvees my issues :-)

So - can I get hold of these packages any other way apart from via the update mechanism???

You may want to head on over to http://rpmfind.net. See if you can find the same version on their mirrors. You can download them on another machine and move them over on CD, or whatever you prefer. After you copy the packages over, you can use the rpm command to install the packages:

Code:
rpm -Uvh [rpmfile.rpm]
