Post unsupported 16 bit depth HELP?

I am running redhat 7.0 on my computer in my dorm room, and I connect to the main server in the CS department. I can connect, edit my program, compile, save, but when I try to run the program a blank applet window comes up, but I get an error in the xterm that says unsupported 16 bit depth or something like that.

I've already done the setenv DISPLAY ip:0.0 on my computer, and to connect to the server I do the xhost ip then telent ip.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks
