UNKNOWN ERROR on boot: PCI problem, need help

I have installed MEPIS 3.4-3 on HP compaq nw8240. It seems fine except for:

On boot I get this text error messages on top of the screen,

Code:
pci: cannot allocate resources to region 7
pci: cannot allocate resources to region 8
pci: cannot allocate resources to region 9

then it reads the MEPIS boot sequence and loads the OS. F2 allows me to look at the boot sequence for errors, and as far as I can see evrything is [ok], except for the above errors.

any idea why this is happening. Except for not allowing me to restart (it hangs at about 80-90%, and I have to manually powerdown. This does not happen when I choose to shutdown) completely, the hardware seems to be owrking fine.

regards,
S

Possibly some kind of IRQ conflict when setting up the hardware.

Have you tried any of the boot parameters (entered at the very begining of the boot sequence and can then be entered in the grub/lilo config if you find they work)

Enter the following at the prompt:- linux noapic

There are others as well like apm=off or acpi=off
