unionfs not in kernel

Im trying install unionfs but think I might be missing the point.

Ive created the fistdev.mk file to my requirements but one thing is confusing me.

The unionfs.ko file is wanting to put itself in /lib/modules/2.6.xx/kernel/fs/unionfs.ko

But I haven't got a fs file in /lib/modules/2.6.xx/kernel All ive got is /drivers.

Ive tried letting it do its thing but when I go into my kernel using make menuconfig unionfs isnt there. The only place ive got a /fs folder is in either /lib/modules/2.6.16.24/ then build or source (both are symlinks to my /usr/src/linux-2.6.16.24. Ive got a /fs folder there)

Ive crudely tried putting the unionfs.ko file in the source directory but it didnt show in make menuconfig, I didnt really expect it to.

Quick summery of where ive got my fs directory.

/lib/modules/2.6.16.24/build which links to /usr/src/linux-2.6.16.24
/lib/modules/2.6.16.24/source which links to /usr/src/linux-2.6.16.24
/usr/src/linux-2.6.16.24

and unionfs is putting one in
/lib/modules/2.6.16.24/kernel/

Im guessing the unionfs.ko is the file created after running make after the kernel configuration and unionfs is trying to plonk it straight into the compiled kernel files? So should it show up in the kernel at all? What about /boot/vmlinuz? Or in my case its /boot/lfs-kernel-2.6.16.24

To make it difficult its a LFS install. Give or take a few stupid moments eveything has been OK with the kernel so far. Im stuck on this one though.

done it!
After 2 days of messin' about with the make makeinstall stuff I ended up just going into the unionfs directory and running

./patch-kernel.sh /usr/src/linux-2.6.16.24

And it said the kernel was already patched! But I went into make menuconfig and; voila, there it was!

Im well chuffed
