Uninstalling JRE 1.6 on Ubuntu Feisty

I installed JRE 1.6 by executing a .bin file (jre-6u2-linux-i586.bin) using the 'sh' command in the terminal. I am no longer using the program that required JRE and wish to uninstall it but can't find any instructions on Sun's website for JRE 1.6 uninstallation. I'm new to Linux (< 1 month) so I don't have much experience on undoing things done with the terminal. After installing JRE 1.6 there is now a folder called 'jre1.6.0_02' on my desktop. I know that I probably need to delete this folder as a part of the uninstallation process, but I am sure that there is more to it than just that. Can anyone help me out?

Nope, there isn't. If this is the location where you installed the package simply remove the folder. Of course there's no harm in leaving java installed afterall your web browser makes use of java.

I don't need/want JRE 1.6 though as I installed 1.5 from Synaptic after figuring out that it was in there. I wasn't able to find it before which is why I downloaded 1.6 from Sun's site and installed it.

So all I need to do is remove that folder and I should be fine?

Yes as long as your web browser doesn't use it. As a precaution move the folder to another location, run your web browser access some java content, and if all is well you know it's safe to delete the folder.

But surely it would be better to use the more up to date 1.6 version!
