uninstalling a package on Fedora
i installed java 1.6 on a fedora box using a bin file. i thought it would install it in /env/ but it installed it in the directory i was in currently, /root/. i am curious whether uninstalling is just as simple as whacking the top-level dir it was installed in or there is some uninstall procedure?
the install did not change any system vars, like path etc. in windows, the only reason to do an uninstall rather than just wiping the dir is to undo all the registry entries, start links etc. but, since this is linux, i thought it would be more straightforward, i.e. just drop the dir.
thanks in advance.
