You could re-install Windows XP and have it take the whole disk.

You can re-write the MBR by booting into windows and doing fdisk /mbr.
Please read the following: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/69013

You can't uninstall Ubuntu, you can delete the partition that Ubuntu is installed on.

Yes, from windows disk management utility, you can delete the partition on which Ubuntu sits.
Another way is to use the Live distribution to do that for you using some of the tools like GParted.
Though not required, it is advised you first replace grub with the windows boot manager.

Boot with the Windows disc, get to a command prompt and type fixmbr.

Why not search google and LQ first and then ask? These are quite common issues that have already been discussed here at LQ quite a few times. You should be able to solve it yourself with minimal efforts.
