Ie got a simple question. How do I uninstall Linux without hurting my windows xp installation. Is removing the linux partitions enough, because there's also that bootmanager...

You can keep that bootmanager around (especially if it's GRUB). It won't harm your installed WinXP.

Yeah You can leave the Boot Manager, It wont cause any problems.

Also if you want a relatively simple way of removing the partitions you could use the RH install disk start a new install go thru set-up till you get to the choice of FDisk or Disk Druid, select Disk Druid and delete the linux partitions (But not the Windows one usually HDA1).

Thanks. I got GRUB so that won't be a problem. I also have PartitionMagic 7. Can I use this program for deleting the partitions?

Ive tried usin Partition Magic 7 it is suppossed to support Linux partitions extfs2/3 but I havent been able to delete partitions with it.

Try using the RedHat disk and going through a fresh install process you can delete the partitions then recreate them immeadiately and carry on installing Red Hat.

Can I use this DOS command?

fdisk/mbr

is that can resolve it?

Remove the bootloader from the MBR or just delete partitions or both????

If you have the windows XP cd you can delete those partitions and FIX you mbr at the same time.(after you delete the /boot partition grubs config and splash imagae will also be deleted making grub boot into its command line interface. Making you to have to type in commands each time you want to boot winxp.) Just pop in the win xp cd. Just go ahead like if you are going to install win xp all over again. When it asks you what partitions you want to install too you also have the option to delete those partitions so delete them and thats it. Now to fix your MBR, after you have erased those partitions theres options to go back, go back until you can choose to log into rescue mode. loginto rescue mode, type pass and type this "FIXMBR" and that will reset your mbr to the state where it was when you installed xp, now just reboot.

what command is used to boot winxp in grub? i removed all partitions except my winxp ntfs partition.. now grub boots everytime and i have no clue of what to do? anyone help me plz!

Since you deleted your Linux partition. You will have to boot with a DOS disk and delete your MBR.

fdisk /mbr
