Unicore or equivalent - link PC's

Afternoon all,

I want to start a project in my spare time.

Starting with 2 PC's and expanding to a few more in the future how can I create my own GRID? I was pointed in the location of Uni-core which i have just started having a look at. Anyway could any offer any advice if you have tried soemthing similar. If I could host my own Virtual Environment using the processors/memory of more than 1 pc ill be a happy chappy...

Let me know if it isn't worth the hastle, feel free to suggest something else to try

until recently, i was looking at a similar project. i wanted to be able to use my current programs but across 2 PC's to speed things up (both PC's were single core)

but from what i've found so far (someone correct me if i'm wrong) you will need to re-compile all you're programs to get them to work. But if that hasn't discouraged you, i was looking at kerrighed and ROCK linux which seemed more towards my interest.

Thanks, looks like kerrighed is the easiest way forward and should be a nice little project to keep me occupied.

Can anyone help me out, anyone got any experience?

thanks
