Angry Undo delete


Hi all,

I have accidentally deleted files in a directory and now am struggling to restore or undo delete/recover
Here is thje command I've used and forgot that I have *
"rm -rf * files and deleted all files that I needed in that directory"
Can anyone help please?

First don't make any changes to your disk. Best situation is if you can boot via a LiveUSB and not mount that disk so as to avoid causing changes to the file system before you get a chance to try repair.

Seems that the best recovery software a lot of people recommend is PhotoRec.

Give that a try, it recovers more than just photos, it will recover almost any file type for you. I have used it successfully in the past, after having done pretty much exactly what you're saying here.

Thanks for the trouble rtmistler, fortunately I have had a file opened somewhere in one of my terminals and I've managed to rebuild it again, thank you so much I will try to use this method next time it happens again
