Unhappy under 0.5x burn in k3b

Hey fellow panguin heads :P

I am having a problem burning a dvd at a decent speed namely faster then .05x. It does finish the burn.

Also when burning the buffer statues says "no info"

I do get an error message though and here is the log that I got:

System
-----------------------
K3b Version:0.11.18
KDE Version: 3.2.3
QT Version: 3.3.3

growisofs
-----------------------
:-( unable to GET EVENT: Input/output error
/dev/hdd: engaging DVD-R DAO upon user request...
/dev/hdd: reserving 2293536 blocks
/dev/hdd: "Current Write Speed" is 8.2x1385KBps.
0.02% done, estimate finish Mon Jan 3 16:03:27 2005
0.04% done, estimate finish Tue Jan 4 04:06:07 2005
/dev/hdd: flushing cache

growisofs comand:
-----------------------
/usr/bin/growisofs -Z /dev/hdd -use-the-force-luke=notray -use-the-force-luke=tty -use-the-force-luke=dummy -use-the-force-luke=dao -dvd-compat -speed=8 -overburn -gui -graft-points -volid K3b data project -volset -appid K3B THE CD KREATOR VERSION 0.11.18 (C) 2003 SEBASTIAN TRUEG AND THE K3B TEAM -publisher -preparer K3b - Version 0.11.18 -sysid LINUX -volset-size 1 -volset-seqno 1 -sort /tmp/kde-tj/k3bN9Z2Pb.tmp -rational-rock -hide-list /tmp/kde-tj/k3bfFCA1a.tmp -full-iso9660-filenames -iso-level 2 -path-list /tmp/kde-tj/k3bB7X20a.tmp

As you can see the only real error that I get is ":-( unable to GET EVENT: Input/output error" and it says that it is going to burn at 8.2X which is the speed of my media that I am using.

The output of hdparm /dev/cdrom

/dev/cdrom:
HDIO_GET_MULTCOUNT failed: Invalid argument
IO_support = 1 (32-bit)
unmaskirq = 0 (off)
using_dma = 1 (on)
keepsettings = 0 (off)
readonly = 1 (on)
readahead = 8 (on)
HDIO_GETGEO failed: Invalid argument

I have a Pioneer DVR-108 16x
the dvd-r disks are rated for 8x

I hope I have given enough info. Any help on this issue will be very much appreciated thankyou

What kernel are you running? If its a 2.4.x try it under scsi emulation. (don't w/ a 2.6)
