Unable to use yum command


I am trying to use yum command to install mysql and php
but I get the following error

yum install php
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Setting up Install Process
Setting up repositories
Could not retrieve mirrorlist http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?releas...h=i386&repo=os error was
[Errno 14] HTTP Error 403: Forbidden
Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: base


Note:
** I am connecting to internet using aproxy.
** /etc/yum.conf has the line proxy=http://myproxyortnumner/
** /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Media.repo has the line enabled =0
** All base urls are uncommented in /etc/yum.repo.d/CentOS-Base.repo
** http_proxy ia set in /etc/wgetrc


Please help me fix this.

does your proxy use user/pass??

Just run export http_proxy=http://myproxyortnumner/ before running yum.
Revert back the changes you made in yum.conf.
the above export command should be enough.

centosboy, The proxy does not use a username/password.

ajeetsinghraina, Do you mean to run export http_proxy=http://myproxyortnumner/ from the terminal? Will try that

I set the network connection to automatically detect proxy and the command worked for me.
