Unable to use ColdFusion verity on Linux 9.0

I am very new to Linux and need some help!
We have recently moved to Red Hat Linux 9.0 and upgraded to ColdFusion MX 6.1 (Standard Version) and are not able to index any files using Verity search engine. I have been receiving zero results for all my searches.
Upon researching learnt from Macromedia website that it is a known issue "50943 Verity cannot index documents on RedHat Linux versions 7.3 and later".
Does Linux offer any alternate full text search functionality?
Please help!

Thanks,
MPatil
