unable to update fedora 10 through yum

Hello, I searched allot here on this org but couldn't find what I'm searching for..

I upgraded form f9 to f10 today and the very first bug I countered was network connection problem.. I fixed it through some research on net.. Now the second problem is of yum ..

Code:
[root@wazirkutz ~]# yum --noplugins update
Could not retrieve mirrorlist http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/mirrorlist?repo=fedora-10&arch=x86_64 error was
[Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error (-2, 'Name or service not known')>
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: fedora. Please verify its path and try again
[root@wazirkutz ~]#
I am now a client to an ISA server, Is there any possibility of having this trouble because of misconfiguration of ISA server?

I don't see anything in /etc/resolve.conf

I also don't see /etc/sysconfig/networking-scripts/ifcfg-eth0......

Cheers!!

You can try
Code:
yum clean all
and then
Code:
yum update
Usually, when this happens you just have to wait some time and then try again.
You can change a mirror/s list, that should fix the problem instantly.

EDIT: I didn't look at this two lines;
Quote:
I don't see anything in /etc/resolve.conf

I also don't see /etc/sysconfig/networking-scripts/ifcfg-eth0......
/etc/resolve.conf shouldn't be empty, then this is a network issue. You must configure DNS server/s there or enable and configure a proxy server if you're using one in /etc/yum.conf.

The clean FC10 install has by default some problems with the GUI network configuration (it mixes up the netmask value by using gateway instead). There is also a problem with yum itself that needs an update (not finding any mirrors).
Strange enough, I was able to do an update with the default Fedora GUI Updater, updating a lot of packages, which solved the yum problem on my installation.

Debian

Yes the GUI network manager problem was very annoying... I download its update first manually and fixed network manager bug first.. then I updated system with GUI update manager.. It fixed about 380 bugs..

But the thing is I am still unable to install anything using YUM

mirror not found Error problem still exists...

Do I have to change some repo configs?

Any suggestions are welcomed ..

Cheers!!

Thanks to all who advised.

The problem is solved now and I make it work..

Problem was:

no proxy=http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx

in /etc/yum.conf

as I was using a proxy server ..

Cheers!

did some sort of workaround by adding a few mirrors to the /etc/hosts file
if you add these to your file it maybe works:

80.239.156.215 mirrors.fedoraproject.org
213.129.242.84 mirrors.rpmfusion.

it could be a wise idea to add some other mirrors of your region too
