Unable to ssh to the server!

Hi All,

I am unable to SSH to server A from server B, I am able to ssh from server A to server B, ssh service is running on both the servers

[root@serverA ~]# service sshd status
sshd (pid 31107 2617) is running...

on server B it is giving this error when trying to ssh
ssh: connect to host serverA port 22: Connection timed out

it is pinging from Server B to Server A.

What I have to do to resolve this?

Please help!

Which distribution?
look at the settings of your firewall, router.
Are the servers in the same LAN or do you connect via internet?

Thanks for your reply!

It is Red hat Enterprise Linux 5,
The firewall is disabled, the servers are in the same LAN. And it will be used over the internet afterwards.

Previously SSH was working fine and it was used over the internet from other country as well, but when I registered the server with the Red hat network only from then I am not able to SSH to the Server A from any server but able to SSh from server A to any other server.

What could be the reason?

As said before, first reason is that there is firewall that block's you. And of course, this error occource when the sshd service isn't running,so check that as well.

Check to ssh from server A to server A

You say it worked until you connected to RHN. Check /var/log/yum to see what packages were downloaded since then. Are you running SELinux and was an updated SELinux policy installed?

The firewall is disabled,
I just registered the server with RHN, did not updated or downloaded the packages, the /var/log/yum.log file is empty.

I tried to ssh from other server i.e; Server C and was able SSH to the server A.
I don't understand why I am unable to ssh from the server B to server A as firewall is disabled on both the servers?

Take a look in
/etc/hosts.deny and /etc/hosts.allow
