Unable to see movies *.avi,*mpg,*dat

hello everyone,
i am using RedHat 9. i dont have any video players installed, whenever i click on these files, a message appears saying nautilus does not have an application to open this type of file. So, unable to play movies (*.avi,*mpg,*.dat) please suggest me some nice audio/video players which can get installed easily.
and if i have to uninstall any software, how can i do that.
thanx,
*enjoy*
