Unable to run add or remove program

I installed fedora 5.. i am unabe to run add or remove software and also updates.. the system showing error.. Can i find a solution for this or install some missing packages..?

The error message is Unable to retrieve software information... Please anyone help

As I recall the Add/Remove function in Fedora 5 requires that the machine be connected to the Internet. The update function definitely requires Internet connectivity.

You can remove packages via the command line without being connected.

rpm -evh packagename

The above command will erase unneeded packages and will give you an error if the software you're trying to remove is required by another program. The command man rpm will give you information on other uses of the rpm command.
