Unable to record soun from mic
Hi. I'm having trouble recording .wav files from my microphone. Other than that my soundcard works fine.
The thing is, I record a file but when playing it, there's absolutely no output. Still, when I speak in the mic, I get an output from the speakers. I think I checked evertything; the mixer settings are OK, the driver is working fine (ALSA). Other than that, I don't know what to check/configure. I have a Soundblaster Live! with snd-emu10k1 (ALSA). I'm running Mandrake 10.0 Community (linux 2.6.3-4 and KDE 3.2). Could someone help me? Thanks in advance. |
I am running Fedora 1 with KDE 3.2 and I am having the same problem.
I want to record all my old cassette tapes into ogg-format, so I have a cable from the mic-out on the tape-player to the mic-in on the sound card. The sound plays through the speakers, but I cannot record it using krec. (Or trying some kind of piping from /dev/dsp either). Any hints? |
Well, the sheer quantity of responses really overwhelms me...
I eventually solved my problem by getting ALSA and installing it. After that my sound card began to record and all is well. My advice: Sound problems = get ALSA and hope. OSS sucks. |
I have alsa, and mic won't work
oss won't work at all. |
I DID IT, I DID IT
go in alsamixer move to mic and press space bar move the capture and press space bar YOU DID IT!!!! |
