Unable to play DVD on VLC

I am new here and new to Linux. I gave up Windows 10 and decided to make Linux my OS in particular the Mint distro. I am having trouble with a few things. For this thread I am having issues with playing DVDs on VLC.

I get this error message:
File reading failed:
VLC could not open the file "/media/Computername/Gladiator/VIDEO_TS.VOB" (Permission denied).
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL

I went into Tools> Preference> input codec> and confirmed the default optical drive is /dev/sr0. Sitll wont work. I tried the other default optical drive. Still not working. I uninstalled VLC and reinstalled. Still same issue. It looks like I have all the correct packages selected.

I have tried what I can find that is suggested. Any other suggestions?

I just tried a non commercial dvd and it worked. But even when I shut off firewall, commercial dvds wont play. It gives the same message as above.
