I you're going to have to add a repo and install the codecs..I use nux

**why would anyone give you a Debian based solution for CENTOS**

i have added nux. But still can't get it work.
When I play any mp3 file it shows to install two updates but after searching got cancelled automatically showing "
Code:
Failed to install software.
Two packages provide the same file.
This is due to mixing packages from different software sources
".

any idea on what i am doing wrong.

you may have a conflicting repo..

and you probably going to have to install the packages independently like libdvdcss libbluray etc.

yeah!
that is what I want to know that what are the packages I need to install manually. Whatever I am trying to install from .rpm download it is invoking an error saying required this package or that.
I am very much confused on it because of that.

don't download from .rpm download you will end up with a conflicting system FAST.

read the CENTOS page on repos then go to the home page of the repo itself to see what it needs and what it might conflict with then add and install what you need,

My only added commentary is in the last month that I have been setting up and breaking CENTOS is that a great deal of Fedora stuff just doesn't work/won't build even if you go the the Fedora releases that were current with CENTOS. I'm sure that there is stuff that does and I've just not found it but that has been my experience. This is one of the things that bugs the piss out of me with this distro there is little flexibility I do understand why but it's rigid. I ran from Arch because of a break but I have a feeling I'm going to be running back because of the rigidity of CENTOS.

CentOS is not a great distro for normal HOME use

as you are finding out

Things like multimedia are a "pain in the rear end "
-- as in a dry corn cob in there --

the repo that music and video programs are in, is "rpmforge" and in a few others .

and rpmforge can be incompatible with OTHER repos

to ad into the problem there is NO REAL documentation on HOW to install multimedia
CentOS is a rebuild of RedHat and USES THE SERVER DOCUMENTATION FROM REDHAT
https://access.redhat.com/documentat...erprise_Linux/

NOW
You can PORT the instructions from Fedora ( VERY WELL DOCUMENTED !!!!) for use in CentOS

-- a VERY good Fedora guide is mjmwired
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mjm-fedora-f19.html

BUT
You have to port those instructions and some names ARE DIFFERENT

also see the CentOS wiki, but most of that is fedora 5 and some 6 , no real 7 information
mainly because CentOS is a clone of RHEL and uses the redhat documentation
http://wiki.centos.org/

Are you going to give up so easy when Fedora doesn't do what you want it to do also? You need two repos to make all these things work nux and epel.

I'd have to agree with John VV.. CentOS is definitely not something I'd use for home use. I'm still getting used to it myself and it's been a little tedious, but I've learned to like it.
