unable to ping


I am able to traceroute but unable to ping a external mail server ? What could be the reason ?

it, or a firewall before it, blocks icmp echo requests.

Yes that may be true,but we are unable send or recieve mail from same and previously it was pingable.

and the address also doesnot open on the browser..

Yes , I thought it was a dns error and I tried to use different public dns address on my router. So sometimes I am able to ping and some times not.

Treating that IP as an intrusion my router blocked that IP.
