Unable to mount ntfs filesystem on 64bit SLC6.3

Hello All

I am trying to convert most of my time to Linux. I want to be able to create a virtual data drive that shares data between my windows and linux partitions. I have used the repositories and done: yum install fuse fuse-libs fuse-devel.
I have downloaded ntfs-3g-1120 and installed it successfully. I am still unable to mount the filesystem. I have tried: $ modprobe ntfs but it doesn't work. I have done:
# fdisk -l | grep NTFS
/dev/sda1 * 1 1275 10240000 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/sda2 1275 47617 372237312 7 HPFS/NTFS

So I know the location but when I type the command: mount /dev/sda2 /mnt/ntfs/
it says: mount: unknown filesystem type 'ntfs'

Have you tried it with
Code:
ntfs-3g /dev/sda2 /mnt/ntfs
or
Code:
mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sda2 /mnt/ntfs

You can also put following line in /etc/fstab for permanent mount
Code:
/dev/sda2	/mnt/ntfs	ntfs-3g defaults,uid=500,gid=500,umask=0022,rw 0 0
where 500 is userid/groupid of normal user
