Unhappy Unable to modify RedHat Linux BootRecord

Hello Everyone,
I have RedHat 9 and Windows 98SE.After a few days,All of a sudden Norton Anti-Virus Gave me a mesage indicating that my boot record has been modified and that i needed to update its status.I Clicked the option stating Not to Modify the boot record.Upon Rebooting only Win98 was loaded and i couldn't see the option for selecting Red-Hat.
I tried to upgrade my Red-Hat using Bootable CD-ROM,but it gave me an error saying that "No Kernerl packages were installed,no changes can be made to the Boot Record".Then,I reinstalled RedHat after erasing the previous installation, but still i get the same error message.
What could be the problem and how do i solve it?
Thanx,
D.C.

Try reinstalling grub:
1) Insert RH cd1 and type "linux rescue" at the boot prompt
2) Change your root "chroot /mnt/sysimage"
3) Reinstall grub "/sbin/grub-install /dev/hda"
4) Reboot "shutdown -r now"

That should do it.
