unable to login user account "orasp" on linux server

Hi,

OS: RHEL 5.6 (64 bit)

I am facing problem with logging in linux server using ssh protocol.

Whenever i try to logging in to the server am getting below error from /var/log/messages file.

sshd[12835]: Connection from 54.50.211.73 port 2155
sshd[12835]: Accepted password for orasp from 54.50.211.73 port 2155 ssh2
sshd[5260]: fatal: setresuid 1024: Resource temporarily unavailable

Everything is fine like Password age is correct, password not locked and also open files were below threshold as below.

lctcsp0031% cat /proc/sys/fs/file-nr
88740 0 6553600

I did reboot of the server and user can login but i want to know the reason why user can't login before.

Could you please help on this issue and guide me how to proceed further.

Hi,

the reason is there are already too many processes running as your problematic account. It could be plain processes which run as orasp, or it could be some Java threads, or something else run as orasp.

You can try to raise the number of maximum processes per user by changing the nproc value in /etc/security/limits.conf.

See this : http://gerardnico.com/wiki/linux/limits.conf
