unable to install packages using opkg
Hi All
i m working on openwrt project and for that i m using opkg packages manager to install various packages. whenever i m trying to install any packages using opkg install package name than its showing follwing error. please help me out in that. root@user-OptiPlex-7010:~/opkg# opkg install luci-theme-bootstrap_git-16.038.37696-9b5724d-1_all.ipk Collected errors: * open_outer: Failed to open package 'luci-theme-bootstrap_git-16.038.37696-9b5724d-1_all.ipk': Unrecognized archive format * pkg_extract_control_file_to_stream: Failed to extract control.tar.gz from package 'luci-theme-bootstrap_git-16.038.37696-9b5724d-1_all.ipk'. * pkg_init_from_file: Failed to extract control file from luci-theme-bootstrap_git-16.038.37696-9b5724d-1_all.ipk. |

Thank you for your reply. i just went through the link and i m trying to untar ipk file using ar x command but its showing the folloiwing error. ar: netifd_2016-02-01-3610a24b218974bdf2d2f709a8af9e4a990c47bd_ar71xx.ipk: File format not recognized what should i suppose to do for this ? |

i m working om IoT board and for that i m using openwrt. i need to install packages for that and i get to know that to install packages in openwrt we need opkg. i m very new in this technology so i dont know anything. i installed opkg and trying to install packages but its giving following error root@user-OptiPlex-7010:~/opkg# opkg install luci-theme-bootstrap_git-16.038.37696-9b5724d-1_all.ipk Collected errors: * open_outer: Failed to open package 'luci-theme-bootstrap_git-16.038.37696-9b5724d-1_all.ipk': Unrecognized archive format * pkg_extract_control_file_to_stream: Failed to extract control.tar.gz from package 'luci-theme-bootstrap_git-16.038.37696-9b5724d-1_all.ipk'. * pkg_init_from_file: Failed to extract control file from luci-theme-bootstrap_git-16.038.37696-9b5724d-1_all.ipk. after that from link which you suggested i got ipk file untar and i found 3 file inside that which are ./debian-binary ./data.tar.gz ./control.tar.gz now what i suppose to do to install packages?? currenty i m trying to install any random package so i can get to know that how to install package using opkg. |
