You won't solve the remote desktop issue. Gnome 3 in standard mode needs working 3D acceleration, which, at least AFAIK, is not possible with RDP. Just go for a desktop like XFCE that don't need 3D.

It did load in fallback mode for the install mode on Ubuntu but went into Gnome 3 on the first boot with Ubuntu. When I reinstalled Debian Wheezy on a different 80G drive (HDD not installed in bios) Gnome 3 worked fine but went to fallback mode on first boot. I was ready to proclaim it as a problem but we took a whole house power hit that put us in the dark for a few seconds. When I rebooted everything Gnome 3 was running on the Debian Wheezy machine. I will watch it. I tried UltraVNC with Ubuntu & Debian Wheezy. It works fine, just install to the windows machine & go. It is preinstalled on the Debian & Ubuntu Distros. I will check out the simpler desk tops as a learning exercise. First I must learn how to use Debian Wheezy with Gnome 3. I have not got far enough along to even get Icons on the desktop yet!

Thanks for all the help!

Gnome 3 has no icons but you can put them on desktop.
Gnome 3 has a hot corner on the upper-left hand side listed as activities.

Yes, However this is more complicated than a Newbie needs to take on. I can get to everything through the activities menu but it is a bit cumbersome. Also, I tried to use the Software catalog to install a couple of programs out of the electrical section and it balked with a message to download a particular DVD. Rather than take on that challenge I will move back to Ubuntu 13.04 with an eye to staying with it as a user. After Wheezy has a little more time on it the Guru's will solve these problems for us wannabee's.
