unable to install a RPM

Hi All,

I am trying to install Caching-nameserver... rpm.

But I can not be able to install it. It shows "completed". But when I used a command "rpm -qa caching", It does not show anything.

Can anybody help me to install that caching rpm in a linux machine.

thanks in advance!!

Hi Nexus,

I think that installing that RPM is a problem to me...

Can you suggest me any idea about installing that rpm...

I used the cmd " rpm -ivh caching-nameserver-7.2-1.src.rpm"

Is this command correct ?

Hi Karthi,
The problem is that you have installed the src rpm which installs the sources in /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES/
here you will find the tar.gz or tar.bz. you can either go to /usr/src/redhat/SPEC/ and run rpmbuild -b spec_file
or copy the tar.gz from SOURCES/ to your home dir and tar -zxvf and run configure and compile....
Regards,
Shankar
