Unable to ftp error : unknown host or invalid literal address


Hi all,
M facing an error when trying to ftp from a solaris server to a newly setup linux server.

ftp username@host

unknown host or invalid literal address

Have no clue why am I getting this error.

Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Hi,

Can you ping host? If yes try:
Code:
ftp host
and when prompted, give your username and password
If you cannot ping host by name, use its IP address.

try,

ftp <server_IP>

provide username and password when it prompts.
