Unable to edit files in folder.

Hi all,
I am trying to run a program on a Linux AMD64 cluster with Rocks. For some reason I was able to create the file needed, but when I tried to edit it later it does not allow me. It does not allow me to remove or create any files in this folder. Any idea of what may be the problem?

Once I entered the text editor (vi or vim) and select "i" (insert) it showed the error E325: After hitting return it allows me to edit. Once I try and write ':w' it displays E505 (fiel is read-only). Once I use ':w!' as indicated, it displays E212 (cannot open file for writing).

I have already deleted the swap files, it no longer displays error E325 when I try to edit. It still does not allow me to edit the file and still shows E45 and E212.

Thanks you for your help,
Diego

Hi,

You don't have the permissions to write the file. Check the file with 'ls -al somedir/somefile' to see what the permissions are.

You should 'chmod' the file. You will have to be 'root' to make changes.
