Unable to detect internal modem
I'm running RH9.0 on my laptop and I cant get linux to detect my internal modem. Whats the easiest way to get my dial-up connection up and running?:confused:
|
each time i try to query my modem using KPPP and specifying my modem device as /dev/ttyS0 - /dev/ttyS3 it says "Modem Busy"
|
Im using an internal modem from Agere Systems

If that is a real hardware modem, this will work.
# Configuring a real hardware pci modem To configure a pci modem, open an x terminal and su - to the root account: Code:
[phil@fancypiper phil]$ su - Code:
Bus 2, device 2, function 0: Code:
[root@fancypiper root]# setserial /dev/ttyS0 irq 5 port 0xc400 uart 16550a Code:
[root@fancypiper root]# pico -w /etc/rc.d/rc.local Code:
#!/bin/sh |
This was the reply that I got :
Bus 0, device 31, function 6: Modem: Intel Corp. 82801DB AC'97 Modem (rev 2). IRQ 9. I/O at 0x2400 [0x24ff]. I/O at 0x2000 [0x207f]. I noticed that there were 2 I/0 values, which do i use? I tried the first one and it crashed my system |
