Unable to connect to internet in Mint 15 xcfe

Hi All,
I just downloaded Linux Mint 15 xcfe on my Dell Inspiron 1545. I am new to Linux and very computer illiterate. I have been using Ubuntu 13.04 on a Dell Inspiron 5520 four about 4 weeks, and I am so impressed with the trouble free use compared to w7. Apparently Ubuntu automatically connects me to Wifi where Mint 15 xcfe does not. I have no idea what to do with the "Network Connections" window that pops up after clicking on my connection icon. I tried copying the information from my Ubuntu "Network Connections" window, but that did not work either. Your help will be very much appreciated.
Warm Regards!

Hello!

Well, I guess there are a number of ways to start.

I think I'd look this post over for clues. http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=135627

If it's a Dell, it may well have a Broadcom wireless chipset.

Even if it doesn't, finding out what chipset it has is essential to troubleshooting this.

This post may help.
