If you did this (see earlier post):
Quote:
ndiswrapper -i driver.inf
modprobe ndiswrapper
ndiswrapper -m
(replace driver.inf with the file of your windows driver)
Please post the output of ndiswrapper -l and not -1 (l as in Laura and not 1 as in One)
Copy and paste the command:
Quote:
ndiswrapper -l
do not add spaces between - and l, just type it as is.
make sure you did the above 3 commands just as they are quoted (this is an i, as in Ingrid)

I am also a newbie to linux. I have installed suse 10.3 from CD which I downloaded from yej opensuse website. I have a DELL 8100 Deminsion, new 320 HD, 1gb of ram...if I hook the PC up to thru the ethernet connection I'm on the web...I want to use a wireless card that is a WG311..I have been having the same issue...and have been directed to use ndiswrapper....I need to know where to get it. Do I download to CD and install or will I need to hook up the linux box to thru the ethernet connection and download it directly?

Thanks,
Travis

If you can connect to the internet, the easiest way is to use Yast

Ok i have followed all the instructions and things are happening, but unfortunately it still says no wireless extensions when I do the iwconfig at the end.
I think the problem lies at the ndiswrapper -i stage.
My drivers are on a cd.
I entered ndiswrapper -i mydriver.inf and got the response
couldn't open mydriver.inf: No such file or directory at /usr/sbin/ndiswrapper line219
I think if i could sort this it might work
any ideas??

you should copy the driver to your hard drive and cd to the directory containing the inf file.

Hey
I think I am almost there.
I have copied the driver to the hard drive, but still no luck. Linux appears to be looking in /usr/sbin
When I try to copy files to there it says permission denied I am not the owner. Obviously I am!
How can I sort this?

Hi,

Whenever you are making system level changes you must be 'root'.
