Unhappy Unable to activate my browser.

I am not a techie. I have been using a tlittle inexpensive Acer, mainly to retrieve e-mail and to browse the web. I normally work on a Mac platform ( I am a designer).
A week ago the Acer took a dive from the counter top to the carpet. (not the first time). Since then (coincidence?) the mail function works fine, but the browser does not go on.
What should I do?

By the way this is my first post, halo everyone, my name is AnaF

Thanks

AnaF

Hi AnaF and welcome to LQ...
Well as far as the computer is conserned it is highly unlikely that the browser would not work (while emails would) after falling down.
I do not have much experience with macs but what I would suggest here is 1) try to set your browser to default and see if you are able to browse, 2) try downloading a different browser eg. opera and installing it.
Hope this helps.

Assuming you are using firefox; open a terminal and type firefox(or whatever starts you browser). Any errors you browser encounters should be shown on that terminal. Post back the error messages and the bowser you are using. Hopefully someone will know what to do with the error messages.
