Connected how? Are you using Linux on another machine trying to connect to it on a local network? More info on what you are doing and how would be useful.

Dear pan64,
i clicked on the Brouse Network under the Network Option on the left of the screen. then all the icons that appeared on the screen including the iMac one. i then double clicked the iMac icon then the error message appeared. i'm not sure which program sent the error message wheather it was the ubuntu machine or the iMac.
