Hi kids,
Is there a Linux distro best suited for for live multitrack sound recording?

Germany_chris 03-25-2014 03:21 AM

Ubuntu Studio?

TobiSGD 03-25-2014 06:11 AM

There are some distributions aimed at multimedia production, like Ubuntu Studio (as mentioned by Germany_chris), AVLinux, Studio 13.37 (commercial) or Studioware. If you are new to Linux I would recommend to try Ubuntu Studio and AVLinux first.

For multi track recordings I use audacity on any distro. and I then do live mixx of it on MIXXX this alows me to do voice and and 6 turn tables at once plus multipule inputs. then coming soon by late this year to next year mixxx will be able to do left and right bus inputs. Multimedia in Linux is very exciting.
then there is one distro that is built just for music. Planet CCRMA is a fedora distrobution well maintained Stanford university. http://ccrma.stanford.edu/planetccrma/software/ This distro is used to develope and use. The abilty of this OS has no limit.
