Well, what did you do right before that happened? Has it been working and just all of a sudden poof; and not work?
In your MBR, are both windows and Linux showing? What is the exact message you're getting?
mbr?
i get to an os choser i pick windows it goes through the loading screen then goes to a sdreen reminecint in apperence of like a disk check and says xmnt2002 program not found-disk check and theres somthing under it but it flashes by real quick |
and as far as doing not mutch i installed linux firefox for liniux instaled this
http://www.jankratochvil.net/project/captive/ to try to see NTFS files and shut down restarted to windows to make shure it was workin and ka-poot it ant |
Ouch sounds like file system curruption to me. Did you try to write to the ntfs partition? If you did good luck fixing it.
no i dont think so... am not shure how i would have-i am verrrrry new to this whole linux thing so i am not entirly shure tho ( honistly not to happy with it right now)
update kinda, sorry for somay post ina row but i have no idea how to fix this... any hwoo it say (upon closer examination) xmnt2002 program not found skipping autocheck then it restarts. i got no idea whats going on. need sleep now tho.
U can go to linux and fdisk , change the windows partions from hidden NTFS to NTFS type(17). Restart and boot to win2000. That should fix it.
can't you boot into recovery console from xp 2k disk, and run the "fixmbr" command.
that will kill linux tough I think, but get you into windows it might only be on the xp disk haven't used 2k for awhile sorry more info on fixmbr here http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/h...ons_fixmbr.asp |
here's a better idea.... mkfs -t ext3 /dev/windowspartition :D
Fixing the mbr has nothing to do with it. The files system needs to be changed from hidden ntfs to regular ntfs in linux it is number 17. That will take care of the problem.
how do i go abouut running fdisk in linux?
man fdisk
alright figured that out, but how do i un hide the NTFS
