"udev: missing sysfs features; update kernel or ..."

I just installed Gentoo. Everything's working fine except for this error I get during bootup:
udev: missing sysfs features; please update the kernel or disable the kernel's CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED option. udev may fail to work correctly

I don't know what to do with this. I built the kernel using the genkernel script. I'm using kernel 2.6.31-gentoo-r6 on an amd64 processor

So re-run make menuconfig and disable that and recompile.

remove sysfs features which may confuse old userspace tools
Won't disabling this option introduce any new problems?

No removing that option should not cause any issues unless your using some really old userspace stuff, and you shouldn't be if your using gentoo.

The message is gone. Thank you, this was the first time I compiled the kernel :)

No worries. The kernel is chalk full of other options too tho. You should do some research on your hardware and build a customized kernel for it. It really can improve boot times and such. I got mine down to a 5 second boot time :)
